Ready to try your hand at the skill of shrouding? Learn the historical and cultural significance of shrouds as you experience the beauty of this ancient art. Demonstration of traditional technique will be followed by an opportunity to practice. We’ll explore the importance of shrouds in natural burial as we discuss construction, types of material, and symbolic meaning in this two-hour presentation. Instructors Rabbi Anna Maranta and Kelly Butler, MHSc, bring decades of experience in caring for the dying and tending the dead. This return to old ways allows us to engage with the reality of loss while stepping lightly on the earth.
Your suggested donation of $20 helps us continue this important work, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
