Through simple sewing techniques learn to make a zipped pouch with Yodomo
About this Event

Learn to sew a simple, lined pouch that you can use for glasses, headphones or small toiletries by reusing quality samples from the Yodomo Circular Hub. These also make perfect gifts.

You will choose your fabrics to reuse and learn the basics of lining and zipping your little pouch led by Yodomo. You will take away your new zipped pouch and can also choose some extra samples to make more pouches when you get home.

This event is limited to just 5 participants.

If you haven’t done so already please sign up to become a Creative Reuse member for free here and you can take away free materials after your session to continue further projects from home.

About the Yodomo Circular Hub

Yodomo runs the Yodomo Circular Hub which connects Hackney businesses, makers and communities, finding innovative solutions to creatively reuse pre-consumer waste and surplus materials.

Premised on the logic of the circular economy, we seek to provide practical solutions to reusing waste while benefiting the creative community and local businesses of Hackney.

About Yodomo

Yodomo is a social venture on a mission to increase wellbeing and promote the understanding of reuse of materials by facilitating wider participation in making and crafts. We believe that making is good for you and good for the planet.

The word 'Yodomo' is a portmanteau of the words 'You Do More'. We encourage participation in crafts and making by bringing the expertise of independent artists and makers directly to you. Our makers teach either online, through kits or at live events.

Our work falls into four key areas: Making and Reuse of Materials, Making and Wellbeing, Making in the Community and our professional programme - The Making a Living Programme™

Accessibility at the Hackney City Farm:

The driveway and farmyard are cobbled. There is a ramp at the rear entrance of the main building and a ramp can be made available at the side entrance, just ask a member of staff.

The main garden has a concrete path along the fruit wall and then a combination of woodchip and cobbles through the rest of the garden. There are no steps around the garden paths.

Guide dogs

Guide dogs are allowed in all parts of Hackney City Farm and are exempt from restrictions on dogs in the farmyard and gardens.

Toilets and baby changing

There is an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities in the cafe.

Yodomo Circular Hub

Our space at Hackney City Farm is in the old farm shop. It is on ground-floor level along the cobble entrance.

Concessionary tickets

Yodomo is on a mission to grow participation in making. If you are eligible for concessionary rates then please do get in touch.

Please note that we always balance our programming with the regular inclusion of free-to-access and low-cost events supported by public funders. Please follow us on Eventbrite to be first to hear when these are announced.
