About this Event
On February 4th and 5th, we'll be offering two levels of Mahjong lessons by certified Oh My Mahjong instructors and founders of the Dallas Mahj Club, Linda Casey and Ashley Gomez, at River Bend Bookshop West Hartford.
With over 35 years of combined teaching experience and national recognition (including magazines, podcasts, and Good Morning America), Linda & Ashley bring passion and expertise to every class.
Small group classes with limited spots! Each class runs for 2.5 hours.
No experience needed! Linda and Ashley will teach you everything from basics to strategy.

Mahjong Lesson 101
An introductory lesson designed for brand new players. This three part lesson includes tile identification, understanding the card, and rules of play.
Mahjong Lesson 102
A continuation of Lesson 101, designed for players who need guided practice or have some experience and want to build on their foundational skills.
All materials necessary to play will be provided by the instructors. Snacks and beverages will be provided by River Bend Bookshop.
About the Instructors
We are Ashley Gomez and Linda Casey, retired educators with over 35 years of combined teaching experience. Our journey with American Mahjong began in 2019, and quickly became a passion. We started by teaching our friends, family and local organizations, which blossomed into a vibrant community initiative.
In January 2024, we founded Dallas Mahj Club, a private social club now serving over 125 active members with a substantial waiting list. As certified Oh My Mahjong instructors, we’ve had the privilege of teaching over 1500 individuals nationwide.
We have been nationally recognized through features in Mississippi Delta Magazine and a Mahjong Mondays podcast episode titled “Playing with Blanks, a Texas Twist” hosted by Fern Bernstein. In May of 2024, Lara Spencer of Good Morning America traveled to Dallas to interview us and our DMC members for a segment entitled, “Mahong Mania Sweeps the US” which explored the resurgence of mahjong in America.
Our mission is simple: to provide American Mahjong lessons that cultivate both skill and confidence, inspiring players to become a part of a growing Mahjong community
