The handkerchief mouse is a “folk toy,” like cat’s cradle, that has been enjoyed by people of different nationalities around the world. It is folded from a plain handkerchief, such as a bandana or a man’s pocket handkerchief. Once the mouse has been created, you can do a trick with it, making it seem to jump up your arm or out of your hands. To make the mouse more artistic and interesting, we will decorate the handkerchiefs using fabric dye sticks. All materials included.Cost: $20

Meet your teacher:
“I’ve been drawing pictures since I could hold a crayon without eating it,” Barbara Bell tells people, and she still enjoys drawing pictures, although she uses pen and ink instead of crayons for
most of her work nowadays.
She also likes knitting, sewing, making pottery, playing “backup”
mandolin with whatever bluegrass band will allow her to join in, and
telling stories (her first book is being published in April 2024.) Born and raised in Ohio, Barbara moved to Canada as a teenager and lived there for most of her adult life, with two years spent in Japan as she and her husband substitute-taught conversational English to help out a traveling missionary.
