Hey ladies who wanna lead! ??♀️Something specifically for you, and much asked about. A 4-week series on the fundamentals of leading!!!
If you’re a follower, GREAT NEWS - you probably have so many tools to be a wonderful leader- musicality, body awareness, and presence to another. This means you start your leading journey in a much different place than a typical beginner, and because of that, we get to fast track this sh*t with a class built just for you! Imagine: learning to lead in a shared environment of experienced followers to help and guide each other's skills –everyone should be so lucky! ?
You’ll learn quality over quantity, movement over steps, and cultivating musicality. You’ll build strength and grounding that will improve your following. You’ll learn about floor craft, bravery, and did I mention floor craft? :)
Lessons will be 1 hour plus a 30 min practice, where we continuously alternate leading and following. Hence, no partner necessary, as we will be switching roles and partners the whole time.
Here’s why I think leading ladies are important for a community:
I started leading almost as soon as I started following, partly from boredom, but mostly from wanting to understand this dance as a whole and have the chance to express my inner leader/masculine. Doing that gave me tango in its totality, a way to see this less through a gendered lens, and more through both sides of “me”. I love the softness and surrender I get to embody as a follower, and the structure and command I explore as a leader. Like anything, learning to lead is bigger than the sum of its parts. :) I’m sure you’ll meet yourself in a similar way, too.
