If you haven’t attended a Blackdog Outdoors Paddle Sport event before, now is the time to grab a free space on our Learn To Kayak session on the River Ure. The River Ure runs through North Yorkshire and is approximately 74 miles long from its source to the point where it becomes the River Ouse, but don’t worry, we’re not paddling the whole thing. We’ll be taking in beautiful section surrounded by open countryside and an abundance of wildlife.
We will meet at the Marina for a briefing and a chat about our plans for the day. We will look at the kayaks, equipment and put on our Buoyancy Aids. We will then paddle upstream toward Westwick Lock where we stop for lunch and a drink before heading back down river to the Marina. During the paddle, we will get to work on our paddling techniques and look at water safety.
All equipment will be provided, and the event will be supported by qualified instructors and Mental Health First Aiders. This is an ideal opportunity to explore the health benefits of paddle sports as well as learning new skills.
These events are aimed at all fitness levels and will be led by professional outdoor instructors with support from our team of qualified MHFA staff.
