Come and learn to fish at Brannan Island State Recreation Area!Parks staff are inviting you to pick up a rod and get casting this August 30th. Interpreters will give a presentation on fishing tackle, the types of fish commonly targeted in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and how to cast and retrieve with your fishing rod. Open to all fishing beginners, this introduction to fishing is a great chance to get yourself familiar with the basics, and maybe even to catch your first fish!
Meet at the fishing pier at Brannan Island State Recreation Area on August 30th, 2025 at 10:00 AM. As August 30th is a Free Fishing Day, as designated by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, no sport fishing licenses will be needed. However, please keep in mind that on all other days anyone who is age 16 or over must possess a valid CDFW sport fishing license to fish. #castateparks #fishing #education #getoutside
