About this Event
Learn how to create texture when weaving
Join us for a lovely morning of relaxed crafting with Sophie Roberts from West Plum Studio where you’ll learn about how to create texture when weaving whilst creating your own unique wall hanging to take home.
Sophie will guide you through all the steps from start to finish. You learn how to set up your weaving, learn three weaving techniques; tabby, soumak and rya knots, and how to finish your weaving ready for hanging. You’ll learn how to use the different techniques and yarn to bring texture to a weaving.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and refreshments will be available. You are welcome to follow Sophie’s example weaving or you can use the techniques you’re learning to create your own unique piece.
All materials will be provided. We’ll be working with a lovely neutral colour palette of creams and browns that work together beautifully.
Sophie is passionate about supporting the local economy and protecting the environment so the materials are as local and eco-friendly as possible.
She believes in the mindful power of weaving and can’t wait to share this with you. We encourage you take this time for yourself as an act of self care. You could also take your new weaving skill home to bring more moments of calm into your life.
