Description:Blender is a popular open-source 3D creation suite used for modeling, animation, sculpting, rendering, and video editing. This class will teach the basics of 3D modeling using Blender. Students will choose from a set of classic fantasy-inspired references to learn the following concepts:
- sculpting a clothed figure
- retopology, or how to restructure the surface of the 3D mesh
- armature usage
- posing the figure
Students will leave with their own files, ready to be processed for a variety of uses from texturing to animation to 3D printing. The class itself will take three hours with a short break in the middle.
Disclaimer: This class will not cover all aspects, features, or uses of Blender. Advanced modeling and texturing will not be included.
Prerequisites: No experience necessary. You may bring your own laptop or portable PC with Blender installed or use one of our lab computers.

We understand that not everyone has their own laptop or portable computer! HackPGH has six lab computers that can be used for this class. Please select the "HackPGH Lab Computer" ticket option when registering to reserve one of our PCs.

- Payment is due at time of registration. You must contact us if you plan to pay with cash.
- If payment is not received within three days of the class date, your registration will be cancelled and we will activate the waitlist.
- Please notify us if you cannot attend the class at least 48 hours before the class date!
Date and Time: Tuesday, September 30th from 6pm to 9pm. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and bottled water are all available from our coffee bar during breaks. Other snacks and drinks are available from our vending machines.
Age requirement: 16+ Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you are registering a minor child at info (at) hackpittsburgh.org
