Learn the Art of Upholstery: 4-Week Armchair Workshop!

This intimate four-week upholstery workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn the craft of professional upholstery in a private studio setting. Designed for small groups and thoughtful makers, the workshop guides each participant through the process of reupholstering an armchair from start to finish, with close attention to technique, materials, and craftsmanship.

Led by Brittany Fentress, owner of SpiritThread Studio and Stitches, this workshop draws on over 10 years of professional upholstery experience working with custom furniture, designers, and one-of-a-kind pieces. Instruction is deliberate, supportive, and highly individualized—allowing each student to build both skill and confidence in a calm, studio-based environment.

• Dates: Saturdays, February 7 – February 28
• Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Duration: Four weekly sessions (16 total instructional hours)
• Location: Private studio (address provided upon registration)
• Investment: $500 (includes all four sessions)
• Enrollment: Limited to four students

• Enrollment is intentionally limited to four participants to ensure personalized, hands-on instruction
• Each participant works on their own armchair throughout the workshop
• Instruction focuses on foundational upholstery skills, professional techniques, and thoughtful execution
• Time is intentionally built in for lunch and light breaks, supporting a sustainable and enjoyable pace

Fabric and additional upholstery supplies are not included. Most projects require approximately $20–$40 in additional materials. Fabric yardage varies by chair.

Following enrollment, Brittany Fentress will personally connect with each participant to:

• Confirm appropriate fabric yardage
• Ensure fabric selections are suitable and upholstery-grade

This one-on-one guidance helps ensure each project is thoughtfully prepared and set up for success.

Enrollment for this workshop is intentionally limited to four students.

Once the workshop reaches capacity, registration will close and a waitlist will open. If a space becomes available, waitlisted participants will be contacted in the order they joined.

This 4-week Upholstery Workshop is offered once each quarter, with smaller one-day upholstery classes hosted monthly. Joining the waitlist ensures priority notification for future workshops and upcoming class dates.
