The pottery wheel can feel intimidating—spinning, wobbling, clay flying everywhere—but it’s also where the magic of ceramics begins. Over this 8-session atelier, longtime ceramicist and community favorite John Werbelow will guide you through the full wheel-throwing process, helping you turn uncertainty into confidence and clay into form.
From centering and pulling to trimming, glazing, and finishing, you’ll learn every stage of creating functional and sculptural wheel-thrown pieces. Expect to make mugs, bowls, and maybe even a bold sculptural work—all while building technical skill and creative play. No experience is required, just sleeves you can roll up and a willingness to get messy.
