About this Event
This class meets on two Saturdays: Saturday June 1st and 8th from 9AM-12PM with different material on both days.
Western blotting is an important technique used in cell and molecular biology research to separate and identify proteins. By using a western blot, researchers are able to identify specific proteins from a complex mixture of proteins extracted from cells or tissues.
What protein will we detect? Sleep is as important for good health as diet and exercise. Good sleep improves your brain performance, mood, and health. Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders. We’re going to perform western blotting to detect a protein from the mouse brain tissue which plays an essential role in sleep disorders.
