About this Event

Welcome to Learn 2 Sew! Are you ready to pick up a new hobby that could revolutionise your wardrobe? Join us at The Nest Community in Brendale QLD, Australia to kick start your sewing journey.

This beginners class will kickstart your crafting journey with the basics of machine sewing. Even with the simplest of stitches you will make your very own #nestmade tote bag!

This is a truly unique shop-to-class experience that is suitable for participants 15yr+. Hosted in our Gladys Mary Studio, you will be surrounded by our stunning Heritage Collection of sewing memorabilia that we've preserved from donations in our Textile Recovery Centre. If you wish, after the class, one of our delightful volunteers can give you a tour of our social enterprise The Nest Haberdashery, where you can buy low cost, reclaimed resources to continue creating at home.

What you will learn to:

Thread, adjust and maintain a sewing machine
Match thread and needle to different fabric types
Sew straight and curved stitch lines or seams
Make a simple tote bag

We request that you use one of our sewing machings for this class.

Terms and conditions

We require a minimum of 3 attendees for the class to go ahead. If this minimum number isn't met, we can reschedule you to another date or give a full refund.
Cancel more than 7 days prior to the event and we will issue a full refund.
Cancellation with less than 7 days notice, will not be refunded, however we are happy to transfer bookings to other people. If a medical certificate is provided, we can issue you with a credit note valid for 6 months.
Failure to attend on the day of the class will result in a loss of your class fee.
We request that you use one of our sewing machines for this class.
All attendees must purchase a ticket.

Just a reminder that this class is for age 15+. Each attendee must purchase a separate ticket to attend. Additionally, children over 15 must be able to attend indenpedently.
