You are invited to the Lancaster Museum of Art & History (MOAH) on February 21 to 22, from 11 AM to 4 PM for a performance by artist Sharon Kagan!
In conjunction with her exhibition, Bearing Witness, Kagan will be performing "Leaping, Together." Using a royal blue elastic cord with nine-inch circular needles, she will be knitting for five hours a day over two days in pursuit of a symbolic umbilical cord. Audience members are invited to come and take a seat in a chair next to Kagan to share what they are leaping towards or away from.
About the Artist:
Sharon Kagan lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Sharon Kagan’s multi-disciplinary practice explores compassion, forgiveness, and resilience through storytelling. Her solo exhibition, Bearing Witness, explores knitting as the foundation of her expansive practice, guiding her performance, video, sculpture, and painting She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Otis Art Institute and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. Kagan has exhibited her work at Show Gallery in California, at the College of Southern Idaho, and the Yellowstone Art Museum, among others. Her video piece Freedom from Entanglement has been awarded the Best US Experimental Short at the Austin International Art Festival and selected for inclusion in national and international film festivals. The Undoing: Forgiveness has been selected for inclusion in national and international film festivals.
