LEAP Module 6: Dealing with Conflict (For City of Detroit employees only)
No conflict is ever ideal, but there are ways to resolve conflict constructively and amicably for the parties involved. This four-hour workshop explores the causes of workplace conflict such as work methodology differences, personality clashes, lack of communication, and differing viewpoints that prevent parties from seeing eye to eye on an issue. Regardless of the type of conflict, the parties resolve their differences in one of five ways: force, avoidance, accommodation, collaboration, or compromise. The workshop identifies the steps in the conflict resolution process so that both conflicting parties know the process they can take to set aside their differences.
The Employee LEAP program is a series of workshops giving participants the necessary skills and knowledge to make them more productive, efficient, and valuable in the organization. The LEAP acronym stands for:
• L – Learn
• E – Engage
• A – Apply
• P – Perform
Once participants learn the material, participants engage with it using interactive workshop activities. Then, they apply the material in their work environment and perform to the best of their abilities having acquired new talents and skills.
