Violist Leanne Darling is a looping/sampling specialist,creating multilayered viola music with a soulful edge,
mixing modern classical and the blues with a middle eastern flavor. She combines styles to create repertoire for solo viola and loops generating layers of sound — from lyrical melodies to driving rhythms and textures — that simulates a whole room full of musicians.
Leanne has collaborated with choreographers Jodie Gates, Ann Robideaux and Aynsley Vandenbroucke, and won a New York Innovative Theater Award for her work in Toy Box theater's "The Landlord". Performances include Lincoln Center’s Clark Studio Theater, Joyce Soho, Dance Theater Workshop, the Brooklyn Museum and HERE arts space. Her debut CD "Spiral" is available on Bandcamp and Spotify.
