Prelude & InvitationThis event is a prelude to our upcoming residential weekend — Leaning-In, A weekend of Contact Improvisation — and an open invitation to explore together in community. If you haven’t already booked your place for the weekend, come dip your fingers & toes into the practice here.
Enter the Field of CI
We’ll begin with a guided class to tune into ourselves, the floor, and each other.
* Awakening sensation
* Finding support in the ground and in another
* Exploring simple pathways into sharing a shifting weight
* Tuning awareness to gravity, momentum, and the space between
Developing an embodied toolkit — opening options for play, self-trust, curiosity, and discovery.
An Open Score
With sunshine streaming in and music weaving the space, we’ll open into a Contact Improvisation Jam — a space where all bodies, all expressions, and all levels of experience are welcome.
No choreography. No right, no wrong.�Simply held in shared presence, moving together, apart, and with the room / environment itself.
A Thinking Dance - material for your attentional body-mind
* Approach & Withdraw — sensing when to come close, when to move away.
* Attraction & Repulsion — what draws your body, what resists?
* Expand & Condense — can you fill the whole room, then gather into yourself?
* Peripheral Vision — soft eyes, letting the whole scene arrive.
* Spherical Space — moving in 360 degrees, above, below, all around.

* Bring water and your curiosity
* No partner or experience necessary
