Our Fall Foliage hike on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:30 AM on Mt Beacon to Fire Tower will pass casino ruins and the remnants of the incline railroad to finally arrive at the fire tower providing a sweeping 360 degree panoramic views.
Carson's hike is a joint trip with the Miramar Ski Club.

The Hudson Valley was voted #1 top leaf peeping area for Fall Foliage for 2025! The views from Mt Beacon will be astounding~
The hike has a steep up hill in the beginning that will pass the abandoned funicular and foot print of the casino. We will eventually windup at the Fire Tower which will provide jaw dropping 360 degree views of the area.
The hike is about ~five miles and will take close to five hours to complete as planned although limited to group dynamics.
Meet in Mt. Beacon Casino trail head parking lot at 9:30 AM (time subject to adjustment). Warning: This parking lot fills quickly in AM so arrive earlier to grap a spot!

*Warning due to it be Fall Foliage season the lot will fill up very quickly - get there early.
You can also take the Metro-North to Beacon station from Grand Central, but you will have to arrive 8:31AM on the #8805. See Saturday schedule from Grand Central Station (or whatever works for you) https://www.mta.info/schedules/metro-north/hudson.
From the Beacon train station there is the town shuttle bus "G" (?) that will take you to the Mt Beacon trail head lot on Wolcott Avenue (it makes a bunch of stops).
There may be some rideshares available if drivers are taking passengers - contribution is $30 cash per passenger.
Rain prediction in area of 35% or greater throughout the day will cancel the hike. Decision to cancel if possible rain is predicted will be broadcast Friday before the hike.
This hike is a moderate hike for those who are in decent cardio shape.
Our iconic apres hike detour will head into Beacon for a social, bite and brew.
A gorgeous town to visit especially in the Fall.
