About this Event
Shah Academy for Leadership and Innovation presents a workshop on Ethics, Integrity, Courage and Humility. The workshop will feature a discussion with Ms. Kinsley and Dr. Shepherd about the importance of integrity in the face of uncertainty and risk. Participants will have the opportunity to work through a hypothetical case study in small groups in order to practice business leadership skills and the virtues of courage and humility. Time will be provided at the end of the workshop for feedback from the presenters, questions, and networking.
Kim Kinsley is the vice president of Mature Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business and Chairperson, IAE International Aero Engines AG (IAE).
As Vice President, Mature Commercial Engines, she leads all facets of the P&L for Pratt &
Whitney’s mature commercial engines portfolio. This includes developing strategies and execution plans to support customers, optimizing product life and maximizing the value realized from the portfolio to ensure financial, business, technical, customer and partner commitments are achieved. As Chairperson, IAE International Aero Engines AG, Kinsley provides leadership to the IAE AG board with joint venture partners MTU Aero Engines, JAEC (Japan Aero Engines Corporation) and PWAEI (Pratt & Whitney Aerospace Engines International GmbH).
Kinsley holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts. Kinsley serves on the New England Air Museum Board as Chairperson of the Development Committee and serves on the University of Massachusetts at Lowell Francis College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
Dr. Aaron Shepherd is Assistant Teaching Professor of Philosophy at UMass Lowell, teaching Engineering and Ethics as well as other courses on ethics and religion. He is the author of a number of journal articles, including "An Ethics of Commitment for Engineers" in the journal Science and Engineering Ethics, as well as the book Challenging the New Atheism (Routledge 2021). Dr. Shepherd also serves as faculty advisor for the UMass Lowell Engineering Ethics Competition team.
