Lucy McLynn
Chair at Protect
Lucy McLynn is the Chair at Protect. Lucy is also an Employment partner at the law firm Bates Wells – a leading firm advising the charity sector. Lucy has experience of advising employers and bringing claims for whistleblowers. A former chair of the Industrial Law Society, Lucy is well-known in the legal sector and ranked Band 1 in Employment, Employer and Third Sector by Chambers and Partners. Lucy has written a book called “Working Time and Holidays – A Practical Legal Guide” (Oxford University Press 2009). She has also frequently spoken on TV and radio on employment law subjects, as well as lecturing and providing training to clients. Lucy currently acts primarily for charities/not-for-profit organisations.
Marcia Asare
Executive Director at the Walcot Foundation
With 15 years of experience leading grant-giving programmes using a system’s change approach, Marcia drives impact by building shared value partnerships across Foundations, Trusts and Community Organisations.
Marcia has managed a range of teams, to develop community investment strategies and campaigns for causes including health and social care, mental health, education and empowerment.
As an enthusiastic writer, podcaster and public speaker, Marcia engages audiences to better understand the changes needed by Foundations who are keen to better support seldom-heard communities. Marcia's leadership roles also include: Chair of Grants Panel and Trustee at Global’s Make Some Noise, and School Governor at a local primary school.
Nando Caicedo
Director of People and Organisational Development at Dementia UK
Nando joined Dementia UK in October 2022 from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. In a career spanning over 20 years, he has worked for organisations such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Leonard Cheshire Disability and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Nando is a specialist in Human Resources, having worked in the field for nearly two decades in both generalist and specialist roles. During this time Nando has held senior roles delivering transformational change to people services. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management, as well as a Member of the British Psychological Society. Nando’s focus is on fostering transformational, purpose-driven cultures. In his role at Dementia UK, Nando is responsible for ensuring the charity delivers cost-effective people solutions that elevate HR services and position the organisation as an employer of choice for both current and future staff. Additionally, Nando plays a key role in shaping the charity’s vision, values, and long-term strategy, ensuring these elements drive an engaged and motivated workforce, enabling sustained organisational impact.
