Following the success and popularity of last year’s Picnic in the Park, we are again bringing together Club members for an afternoon picnic in the grounds of the beautiful Calke Abbey, a country house near Ticknall, Derbyshire. Thanks to the National Trust, we have allocated parking on the main lawn as you approach the house and stables. Take the opportunity to explore the deliberately unrestored charm of Calke Abbey with its vast collection of hidden treasures and 600 acres of parkland and gardens.
Members will meet at 12:30 pm at Calke Abbey. You may also wish to join us in the morning for the nearby breakfast meeting at Mercia Marina from 8:30 am which will be followed by a scenic social drive to Calke.
You are welcome to bring a picnic or enjoy the food available from the onsite restaurant and café. Details of these can be found at www.nationaltrust.org.uk.
Calke Abbey is a National Trust property and entry is free for National Trust members. For non-members, we have arranged a group booking discount rate of £7.13 for adults and £3.56 for children. Dogs are welcome.
