About the Play:
Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling, is a poignant and humorous play set in a small Southern community. It revolves around a close-knit group of women who navigate life's joys and sorrows together, showcasing the strength and resilience of friendship.
Roles Available: (Please note - seeking actors 18 years old or older)
Truvy Jones: The wise and witty owner of the beauty salon.
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto: A newcomer to the town who is the beauty shop assistant..
Clairee Belcher: A widow of the former mayor with a sharp sense of humor.
Ouiser Boudreaux: A wealthy, cantankerous, but lovable woman with a big heart.
M'Lynn Eatenton: The strong mother of Shelby, socially prominent career woman.
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie: The prettiest girl in town.
What to Prepare:
Please prepare a 60-90 second monologue that showcases your acting range.
Actors interested in playing the character of M’Lynn will also be asked to read part of her monologue from the play.
Headshot and/or resume are optional.
Rehearsal Information:
Rehearsal will be Monday through Friday 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM Every Friday we will have a cast dinner at the beginning of rehearsal.
There will be emotional and physical work in the rehearsal process.
All actors will be required to help with the set or other design aspect of the show and we will have regular work parties on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Small dogs may make an appearance at rehearsal. Please let us know on your audition form if you have allergies.
