LCB 2025

On the 12th of May, we will welcome you to De Bazel for a day filled with thought-provoking and stimulating speakers and workshops. Additionally, you will enjoy exciting opportunities to network with companies and complete the day with a closing borrel! This year, the LCB will focus on: Colliding Crises in Governance: Origins, Management and Solutions. With this theme, we will reflect, analyse and offer possible solutions to perceived crises in the Netherlands and beyond.

Below you will find the official programme of the LCB 2025, which includes three speaker sessions, two workshop rounds, one networking round, a catered lunch, and a closing borrel. With the purchase of your ticket, you will also have the ability to select your preferences for the workshops you would like to attend.

The day will open with a keynote by Paul ‘t Hart, Professor of Public Administration and an expert in crisis management and political leadership. He will delve into the dynamics of the polycrisis we are facing and what this means for public governance and policy.

Next, we will explore the media perspective on today’s societal challenges in a thought-provoking panel discussion. How are crises communicated to the public? What role do the media play in amplifying or mitigating crises? Experts from Dutch journalism will discuss the media’s influence on policymaking and public perception.

Finally, we will conclude the plenary sessions with an in-depth interview on leadership in times of crisis. A former deputy prime minister and an influential politician will share insights on decision-making under pressure, political responsibility, and balancing long-term and short-term interests in times of crisis.

1. Dress code: the dress code for the LCB 2025 is formal wear or business casual
2. Public transportation: participants can reach De Bazel, Vijzelstraat 32, 1017 HL Amsterdam from Amsterdam Centraal Station using Metro line 52 to Rokin, and then walking 7 minutes. Alternatively, De Bazel is also accessible by tram line 24 and by bike.
