Lazarus LAZARUS
Forestillingen er bygget op om en række klassiske hits fra Bowies bagkatalog som Changes, Heroes, Sound and Vision, This Is Not America, Life on Mars, Where Are We Now?, Valentine’s Day samt fire sange skrevet til forestillingen, heriblandt titelnummeret Lazarus, der også var at finde på albummet Blackstar.

ENGLISH VERSION
LAZARUS
David Bowie’s masterly and captivating musical performance, which he completed shortly before his death. A musical tour de force that is high on ecstasy and aliens.
The ingenious David Bowie fell to Earth as the oddest of creatures. Before exploding like a supernova and returning to Mars, he transformed our planet into a giant dance floor. Bowie’s swan song was the superiorly original musical performance Lazarus.
Lazarus is the story of Thomas Newton, an alien trapped on Earth. An androgynous being who cannot escape this world nor find his way home. Awash with gin, cheap TV, sex and experimental medication, Thomas Newton suddenly encounters another lost soul, who may finally be able to set him free. The tale is inspired by Walter Tevis’ novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, which has also influenced the movie of the same title from 1976, in which David Bowie himself played the lead role.
The musical performance features a number of classic hits from Bowie’s back catalogue, such as Changes, Heroes, Sound and Vision, This Is Not America, Life on Mars, Where Are We Now?, Valentine’s Day and four songs written for the show itself, including the title track Lazarus, which was also included on the album Blackstar.
The performance is in Danish with songs in English.
Recommended from the age of 15.
The performance is produced in association with Aarhus Teater and Mikkel Rønnow by agreement with Robert Fox and Jones/Tintoretto Entertainment and the New York Theater Workshop. A big thank you to Walhberg Motion Design for supporting the show.
