This is an exciting opportunity to learn from Professor Steve Walton, a renowned Luke-Acts scholar, as he leads us through thinking about and preparing to preach through texts from Luke’s Gospel (the lectionary Gospel for the coming year). This day will equip you with knowledge, tools and approaches which will enable you to understand Luke’s Gospel more fully and to preach it more informatively and accessibly to your congregations. In particular, you should gain:

• understanding of the overall shape and content of Luke

• knowledge of some key approaches and resources for reading Luke

• an outline of some key themes in Luke

• a look at a particular passage in Luke

• opportunity to study a section of Luke in groups with an eye on how to preach from it.

Please note: While we will have tea and coffee available on the day, we will not be providing lunch on this occasion due to current staffing within the Growing Leaders team. Please bring your own packed lunch with you to this event.

Preparation: Please spend some time prior to this event looking at Luke 8:22-25 and making some notes of your observations and/or study into this passage. This preparation will feed into a workshop activity in the afternoon.
