Join us on March 15th in the historic 1840 Winchester-Frederick Courthouse as Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Volunteer Steve Chesley presents the story of Colonel James A. Mulligan’s 23rd Illinois at the Battle of Second Kernstown. Made up of Chicago’s Irish-American population, the 23rd Illinois saw heavy action in the Shenandoah Valley in summer of 1864. This program will take place the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day at the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum. The program is included with Saturday the 15th’s admissions, members of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation are welcome to join us as well!
