Lauri Hyvärinen - electric guitarJukka Kääriäinen - electric guitar
Lauri Hyvärinen and Jukka Kääriäinen is a Helsinki, Finland-based duo who seek to deconstruct the traditionally imposed boundaries and roles of their instrument – the electric guitar. The duo improvise and experiment with signal processing and preparations creating jarring juxtapositions of timbres and echoing splinters of free improvisation, contemporary music, noise, and rock. Their performances navigate between open and predetermined structures that evolve spontaneously in-situ.
Both Hyvärinen and Kääriäinen are experienced musicians in their own right, having delved into a multitude of forms of improvised and experimental music. They have performed together in various line-ups including the contemporary music ensemble Sähkökitarakvartetti. Their collaborators include notable artists such as Seijiro Murayama, Angharad Davies, Axel Dörner, Harri Sjöström, Jone Takamäki, Beat Keller and Clara de Asís.
The duo’s debut album will be released in the fall of 2024 by Bokashi Records.

Edgars Rubenis - acoustic guitar
Edgars Rubenis is a guitarist and composer from Riga, Latvia. His current three-album project, "Pains And Boogies", explores the vitality of fingerpicked steel-string guitar traditions. Working particularly with the forms of early blues and ragtime, he writes seemingly old yet entirely new music – material that pays homage to the great originators of these styles and also dares to diverge at its own will.
