From the southern to west coasts, Lauren Murphy is not only a beloved talent, but she has become somewhat of a folk hero. Her storied career boasts stages & marques shared with the most notable of classic rockers(David LaFlamme, Sam Andrew, Melvin Seals, Bob Weir +), Contemporary chart-topping songsmiths Will Kimbrough, Lisa Lobe, & Joan Osborne, and staples of New Orleans Ivan Neville, Papa Mali, Dave Jordan, & Grayson Capps. Writing through both the death of her singing partner/husband, and 8 years later, the loss of her co-writer/drummer, she is a staunch survivor whose tenacity can be heard in her music.
Americana Highways describes Murphy's voice as 'warm, unique jazz-tinged with excellent intonation and phrasing that is like a fine French brandy.' Moving back to her home state of Louisiana just 3 years ago, Lauren has reassembled her award winning band, 'The Psychedelics' , with a New Orleans line up.
Often compared to Grace Slick & Janis Joplin, Murphy is a force all her own. Lauren is based out of Madisonville, and in addition to her band, she tours heavily on the coast as a compelling songwriter and has been a staple at the Florabama for the last decade. Her new Single with 'Lost Bayou Ramblers' double grammy winners, Louis Michot and Jonny Campos, is set for release this fall. With 5 Albums to her discography, Lauren's music can be heard playing on worldwide radio stations as well as on Grateful Dead syndicates. She is also a featured songwriter with South Louisiana's Ozone Music Foundation
