Brethren, join us for a walking tour and luncheon visiting some of Philadelphia's most esteemed Masonic brothers who have passed through the West Gate!Philadelphia's Laurel Hill Cemetery is a National Historic Landmark, which counts among its permanent residents 17 Past Right Worshipful Grand Masters of Pennsylvania. Beyond that, however, we will find politicians, captains of industry, war heroes, and philanthropists, all of whom were Freemasons. Join us for a lively, historic walk, guided by WM Daniel Heichel's wife, who happens to be a veteran tour guide at Laurel Hill!
Some of the notable personages we will visit include Brigadier General Hugh Mercer - a close friend of General Washington; Major General George Gordon Meade, victor of Gettysburg and Oddfellow; and Dr David Skerrett, the namesake of District 5's own Skerrett Lodge!
The historic material presented was specifically researched and developed for this tour. The event is rain or shine, and it is open to families. Please be prepared for walking (including some stairs and grass) with comfortable shoes. Entrance is $25 and includes a picnic lunch in the cemetery's beautiful Medallion Garden! Proceeds benefit the upkeep and preservation of Laurel Hill.
Free parking is available right across the street from the main gatehouse on Ridge Avenue. Please be advised that this is Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, not Bala Cynwyd.
Pre-registration is greatly appreciated. To reserve your space, please comment here with your number of attendees, and remit payment of $25 per ticket at the following link.
