About this Event

Parity magazine is Australia’s leading national homelessness publication. Published ten times a year, each edition explores a specific element of homelessness from personal, local, social, and global perspectives.

South Australia has long played a key role in the development of innovative policy and service responses to homelessness. Many South Australian policy and service initiatives have later become the inspiration, and sometimes the template, for homelessness policy and service developments in other national, state and territory jurisdictions in Australia.

The Honorable Nat Cook, Minister for Human Services, will launch the August 2022 edition of Parity, alongside Ian Cox AM, Head, Office for Homelessness Sector Integration and Jenny Smith, CEO, Council to Homeless Persons.

The 2022 South Australian edition showcases over 40 articles written by:

  • People with lived experience of homelessness and domestic and family violence
  • Homelessness and Domestic and Family Violence Alliances
  • Directly Contracted Services
  • Government agencies, including Local Government
  • Sector leaders.

The edition explores the Future Directions for Homelessness reform including the policy context and establishment of the Alliances, how the Alliances are working, the role that Directly Contracted Services play in the sector, responses to Aboriginal homelessness and learning from lived experience.

The August 2022 edition of Parity is intended as an opportunity for all involved in the implementation, operation and provision of homelessness services to examine and discuss the new model. Emphasis is placed on identifying ways to continue improving our sector and service delivery for better outcomes for people experiencing homelessness, including as a result of domestic and family violence in SA.

Thank you to the sector sponsors who supported the edition and all authors for spending time contributing to this fantastic collection of reflections and learnings from our sector.
