Join us for our 4th Annual Laulima Symposium, a conference linking STEM with our broader community. This exciting FREE event brings together brilliant minds to collaborate, share, and pitch transformative ideas. This symposium is open to EVERYONE and offers a unique opportunity to meet amazing STEM leaders in Hawaii while learning about new, innovative solutions in the community.

  • Inspiring Speakers: Hear from leaders in science, technology, medicine, education, and sustainability as they share their knowledge and experience.
  • Proposal Competition Pitch Award Session: Top students from the Honua Scholars proposal competition will be invited to present their projects to a panel of judges to compete for prizes and awards!
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with professionals, mentors, students, and peers who are passionate about making a positive impact on Hawaii’s future.
  • Interactive Activities: Learn from hands-on demonstrations, activities, and more from a variety of community collaborators!

This event is sponsored by Purple Mai`a, the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship at UH Mānoa, Hawai`i People's Fund, Stanford University, Windward Community College, the Atherton Family Foundation, Kamehameha Schools, and the Pacific American Foundation.

Please Note: We welcome all, regardless of race, gender, or ethnicity, and strongly encourage Kanaka `Ōiwi and Pacific Islanders to participate. We also highly encourage participation from those not directly involved in STEM!


Agenda (tentative)

9:00 AM - Check-in

9:30 AM - Opening & Keynote

10:00 AM - Pitch Competition - Top entries in our proposal competition will be presenting short project pitches for awards! If you are a student 6th grade-college, consider submitting a proposal today!

12:00 PM - Lunch - Enjoy a catered lunch, provided free to all attendees! Participate in a few games to win some prizes!

1:30 PM - Afternoon Session - Attend a workshop, oral presentation session, or networking room!

3:30 PM - Closing & Awards - Find out who won our proposal competition, pitch competition, and had the best oral presentations at today's event!
