Leialoha Mahuka – Lauhala Weaver & Cultural Practitioner
Get into the holiday spirit with a unique and meaningful workshop led by lauhala weaver Leialoha Mahuka! In this hands-on class at Waikīkī Community Center, you’ll learn how to create adorable Christmas ornaments using traditional lauhala (pandanus leaves). Whether you’re making them for your tree or to gift with love, these woven keepsakes carry the warmth of the season and the beauty of Hawaiian craft.
You’ll be surprised how simple and fun it is—no prior weaving experience needed!
What's Included:
All materials, including carefully harvested, cleaned, and prepped lauhala, are provided. Each student can make one bracelet.
About the instructor:
Leialoha Mahuka is a dedicated teacher and skilled weaver passionate about sharing her knowledge and culture with others. She does all the hard work— harvesting, cleaning, and preparing each piece of lauhala—so that students can fully immerse themselves in weaving.
