Join us in producing one of the most dynamic Latina conferences in the nation – projected to be our largest conference ever! The Latina History Day Conference, for which Latina History Day in California was created, celebrates the historic accomplishments of Latinas and presents forums on career development, community issues, and financial empowerment. As of today, we are expecting about 1,300 guests who range from HOPE affiliates, corporate sponsors, California elected officials, and first-time attendees. Food: HOPE will provide breakfast or lunch in the designated volunteer room.
Dress: Business attire, comfortable dress shoes recommended.
Parking: Complimentary parking will be provided by HOPE, details to come.
Required attendance at one 30-minute(virtual) Volunteer Orientation one week prior to the Conference.
We are looking for Volunteers for Thursday, March 6th and Friday, March 7th. Volunteer shifts are located below. Please check "Tickets" for available shifts!
Thursday, March 6:
- Shift 1- 3:00pm - 8:30pm | VIP event Set Up, Registration, and clean up | Conference set up
- Shift 2- 7:30pm - 10:00pm | Conference Set Up
Friday, March 7:
- Shift 1 - 6:00 am - 11:30 am | Set Up, Registration, Greeters, Wayfinding, and Workshop Set Up
- Shift 2- 10:00 am - 3:30 pm | Registration, Greeters, Wayfinding, Workshops, Set Up Bowl Room and Comadre Network, Clean Up
Volunteer Assignment Descriptions
Registration: Check in conference attendees, provide correct name badges, direct attendees to correct locations. This assignment requires sitting and standing for long periods of time and providing excellent customer service.
Greeters: Direct attendees to correct location and registration tables, usher late arriving and/or VIP guests. This assignment requires standing and/or walking for long periods of time and providing excellent customer service.
Set Up/Clean Up: Assist with event set up including centerpieces, giveaways, signage and other décor as directed. Assist HOPE staff with event clean up including collecting signage, reconciling registration, collecting leftover giveaways and programs, and other clean up as needed This assignment requires lifting boxes (15 lbs or less), standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
Workshop: Responsible for the set up and program flow in the designated workshop room. Includes distributing and collecting evaluations, ensuring that the correct slideshow is loaded and projected, assist with microphones during audience Q&A. This assignment requires standing and/or walking for long periods of time. Basic A/V and computer knowledge preferred.
Comadre Network: Responsible for the set-up of exhibitor area, directing exhibitors to their assigned workspace, troubleshooting any requests and working with the hotel to ensure exhibitors have what they need, be available to answer questions and usher guests during the exhibit as needed. This assignment requires standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
