Viva Venezuela, mi Patria Querida! 🇻🇪 Latin in The Park is back for 2024, and this year, we’re going international! 🌍
Join us on July 5th for a spectacular celebration of Venezuelan Independence Day and the 60th birthday of our beloved friend, the renowned percussionist Gerardo Rosales. Gerardo will be joined by the Venezuelan Masters Orchestra, a group of the finest Venezuelan musicians of the moment, bringing the heart and soul of Venezuelan music to our city.
But that’s not all. We are thrilled to announce that we will be flying in one of the legends of Venezuelan Salsa, a figure who was part of many important bands in Caracas and New York during the 1960s and 70s. He has performed with icons like Federico y su Combo, Ray Barretto, Bobby Valentín, Joe Cuba, Eddie Palmieri, Larry Harlow, La Típica 73, and Conjunto Libre. We’re excited to be able topresent to you the one and only: Orlando Watussi!
Get ready to dance to salsa, mambo, merengue, cumbia, tambor, gaita, joropo, and parranda. We'll be honoring the music of Venezuelan legends like Oscar D’Léon, Porfi Baloa, Billo’s Caracas Boys, Guaco, Simón Diaz, El Trabuco Venezolano, Aldemaro Romero, Un Solo Pueblo and of course, Gerardo Rosales himself.
The evening kicks off with traditional música llanera by Venezuelan talent Gabo Notario and his cuatro, followed by a brief Afro-Venezuelan dance workshop with Daniela Febres to get everyone moving. Then, prepare for an unforgettable show with Gerardo Rosales and the Venezuelan Masters Orchestra featuring Orlando Watussi!
We'll cap off the night with an afterparty, playing the greatest Latin hits to keep you dancing until after midnight.
