Join us for this informative program on Latin American art!
The 20th century was a period of tremendous artistic innovation, political change, and social transformation in Latin America. Latin American artists explored issues native to their local contexts while engaging and contributing to avant-garde art movements that developed internationally. Throughout the region, there was a push and pull with ideas, styles, and techniques coming from Europe and the United States. Artists maintained strong ties and sentiments to their own nations, while experimenting with and adapting international avant-garde styles.
We'll explore this growing, and often understated, region of the world by showcasing artists and movements from Mexico to Cuba to Chile who have made an impact on the global art scene.
