This June, the "Old Gym" and surrounding classrooms will be coming down, to pave the way for the next generation of students walking the halls of Gibraltar Area Schools. But before the demolition begins, we invite our alumni and community members (adults only) to join us in a walk down memory lane.
The Last Dance in the Old Gymnasium is a bittersweet farewell to a place rich with memories. As the evening progresses, the creaky floorboards will echo with laughter from years gone by. Alumni and community members will gather in their finest to celebrate the end of an era and new beginnings. Adorned with twinkling lights and balloons, the gym will exude magic and nostalgia. Couples will sway to a mix of classic and contemporary songs, while others share stories and memories, or peruse the historical displays. It will be a night of smiles and tears, as we all cherish the moments, knowing this is the gym's final celebration.
Come for an hour or come for the night!
All proceeds benefit the Gibraltar School Historical Preservation Committee whose mission is to preserve parts of the current schoolhouse to carry into the next phase of Gibraltar’s building, and to educate the students and community about the history and culture of Gibraltar and northern Door schools.
Evening Schedule
4:00 - 6:00: Tours of the new building, led by school staff and construction management staff.
4:00 - 6:00: Tours of the “old” school, built in the 1930s.
4:00 - 6:00: Music in the Old Gym and Reception with light refreshments.
6:00- 9:00: Music and dancing in the Old Gym.
