https://alumni.wsu.edu/s/1613/18/interior.aspx?sid=1613&gid=2&pgid=9278&content_id=7980Rise above the Las Vegas heat and enjoy the cooler air up on Mount Charleston as WSU alumni, students, family, and friends of all ages hike the Upper Bristlecone Trail on Saturday, August 20. Walk among scenic bristlecone and birch trees on this easy-to-moderate hike and enjoy panoramic views of the valley and Mount Charleston once you reach the top of the ridge line.
The group will meet at 9:30 a.m. sharp in the upper parking lot by the trailhead (see map below). Dogs are allowed, but they must be on leash at all times. Hiking will be at your own pace. Remember to bring plenty of water!
After the hike, join the group at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort for a bite to eat. Enjoy lunch you brought along or purchase food and cold beverages at the Bighorn Grill. Scenic chair rides are also available for individual purchase ($10 for adults, $8 for military, $6 for youth ages 6-17, children 5 and under ride free).
The drive to the Upper Bristlecone Trail is about one hour outside of Las Vegas, so plan accordingly. Don't forget to wear sunscreen and Cougar gear, and we'll see you there!
