Natural stone jewelry often starts with a polished cabochon - either free-form or cut to standard shapes and sizes. Learn how to turn your rough piece of rock into either a finished cabochon or a face-polished specimen - the first step involved with creating your own jewelry (and fantastic gift items with your personal touch) from scratch! Specific skills taught through this class include: selecting suitable rough rock, use of slabbing and trim saws, identifying the best cabochon patterns on rock slabs, use of dop sticks and wax, and grinding, sanding and polishing using diamond abrasive equipment.Completion of this class allows participants access to the ZRS Studio-Lab to use the equipment detailed through this class on a nominal fee basis ($10 per hour) in order to create and complete additional projects.
