Get the best of both worlds in this relaxing somatic/yin combo class. First, we will move through somatic movements to help release tension and create fluidity in the fascia. Our somatic work will include myofascial release with tennis balls. In the second part of class, we will settle into longer held postures (yin) to help build resiliency in the connective tissues and promote deep, meditative relaxation. This class is great for those in recovery from injury, or those with chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and arthritis. Or anyone seeking stress relief and nervous system support. All of the poses are done on the ground - no standing work. This practice is gentle and effective, no experience is necessary! Everyone can benefit, regardless of age and ability.The Autumn edition of soma-yin will focus on concepts of Chinese Medicine - the earth and metal elements, along with the meridian pairs of spleen/stomach, lung/large intestine. The emotional aspects of these two pairs are worry and grief. Learning to let go with the beauty and grace of Autumn can help us navigate these emotions and let go for deep peace.
