- How were Tryfan and Y Glyderau and Y Carneddau formed?
- What is the impact of humans on Snowdonia’s landscape?
- What are the rock types and geology of Snowdonia and how do rocks affect the natural history?
- The future?
Based in Ogwen Valley the day will have a strong focus on the formation of Eryri (Snowdonia). Cwm Idwal is a classic field study place for geologists and geographers. The place supported Darwin’s understanding of evolution and natural selection, and even inspired Attenbourgh. Be prepared for a hill walk, on uneven ground (and all weathers!) to uncover evidence of violent volcanic eruptions, eons of folding and mountains of ice!
Dewi is a geologist, naturalist and mountain leader. Born and raised in Eryri, he currently works for National Trust Cymru on landscape conservation projects and used to be a Senior National Park Warden. He’s ideally paced to lead this walk through time!
