About this Event
Where do we go from here? is a work by the Icelandic Love Corporation that places the natural world front and center as members stage photographs as “stills” of a make-believe film. The work is “based on a never-produced film about a never-existing world. Members… weave a tale of four elf-like women who venture into a wild terrain, lured by its strange beauty. But they underestimate the power of nature as both a creative and a destructive force. They venture into dangerous territory and become trapped and injured…” (Natural World Museum, 2007).
In the summer months, the Hill Country becomes scorched by the relentless heat, as evidenced by the drought and record-breaking temperatures of 2023. During this session, participants will compose a fictional story and create a group piece using the sometimes apocalyptic-looking environment as a seed for imagination. The final work will be a photo book of the sequence of staged photographs alongside the text of the collectively-written story.
