About this Event
This retreat will be based on the Lamrim – or Stages of the Path – cycle of meditations, which are the essence of the Kadampa path to enlightenment. There will be four hour long guided meditations on both Saturday and Sunday. The meditations on the first day encourage us to enter the path to liberation for ourselves, and the meditations on the second day encourage us to enter the path to full enlightenment so that we can benefit all living beings. These meditations assume a belief in reincarnation, karma and the existence of enlightened beings, and there won’t be time to explain these ideas in any detail, so this retreat is not really suited to those completely new to meditation and Buddhism. While it is best to come to the whole retreat, it is possible to come to just one day, or even occasional sessions.
