Pre-Requisite: Basic Bead Making Class
This class takes you beyond the basics and on to the next step in your glass art journey.
Learn how to select and operate a gas torch, prepare your mandrels for bead making, and operate the kiln.
Build on the skills you learned in the Basic Bead Making Class with added decorating skills and color combinations. Twisties, bead shapes, color combinations of glass and heat control will all be covered in this Part II course.
Features:
3 hours of instruction with artist Lori Skupa of Parrott Flameworks
Projects: soft glass beads utilizing 104COE soft glass
Small class size of 4 students for more personal instruction that provides you an opportunity to meet other students, ask your instructor questions with a focus on educating you on the “how to” while furthering your glass skills
In-studio kiln for annealing of all projects
Safety instructions for all tools
Instructor demonstration of projects before students begin to work at their own pace
Use of studio torches, tools, and glass during class session.
Taking this class provides you future access to Open Torch Rentals at the Crystal Forge Studio within the Hot Shops Art Center.
Studio access is available for an additional hourly rate and can be arranged after the completion of the Beginner Series of Basic Bead Making and Basics of Bead Making Part II.
Class Fee: $135
Class fee includes glass for your projects and annealing in our kiln.
Students will be required to return the next or by other arrangements to pick up annealed beads. Instructions will be provided on how to clean beads too.
100% cotton, fitted clothes (blends are ok, with heavy cotton percentage) No tank tops. Closed toe shoes. Long hair tied back.
