“Lamenting for Ukraine” is presented by Pickle Underground and Connect Fest Burnaby in partnership with The United WayTwo years into the war, Ukraine’s fate feels especially dire and uncertain. With more countries plunging into war, hope grows evermore fragile. As we wander through the darkest hour of this horrific night, we take a moment to grieve our losses. Drawing on ancient Ukrainian lamentation traditions and exquisite music by contemporary composers, we will lead you on a journey through this darkest night towards the break of dawn. We invite you to cry with us, ease the burden of grief, and regain a sense of hope in togetherness.
The program features an original lamentation ritual created by the Lamentation Singers and performance artist Roksolana Uhryniuk, and music by Anna Pidgorna (Ukraine/Canada), Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Kaija Saariaho (Finland), Jocelyn Morlock (Canada) and Yevhen Stankovych (Ukraine) performed by violinist Jack Campbell and pianist Anna Sagalova.

Tickets:
Tickets are free. Pick up tickets at the Shadbolt Centre box office on the day of the event. Seating is limited and tickets will be given out on a first come first serve basis, so arrive early.
There will be no late seating. The performance starts at 7:00pm.

While our venue is fully accessible, mobility access seats are limited. If you require mobility accommodations please contact the Shadbolt Centre box office at 604-205-3000 in advance of the show so that we can accommodate your needs.
Shadbolt is a scent free venue. Please do not wear perfume, cologne or scented body products out of respecrt for the other guests.
