This performance was originally planned as an Easter vigil for Holy Week, but unfortunately had to be postponed. However, I Progetti will present the concert as originally conceived, as a candlelit vigil. The music is from the Renaissance and Baroque periods: Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and Manuel de Zumaya. It is almost certain that de Zumaya's "de Lamentatione Jeremiæ" (1717) has not previously been performed in Canberra (and likely not in Australia).While the concert is not ticketed, exit is by donation, with all donations going to St John's Care welfare organisation, to help the needy and homeless in our region.
