About this Event

Lake Jocassee is a botanical jewel in South Carolina. Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Escarpment it is provides access to both mountain and piedmont plant communities. Understanding plant communities is a big aid to learning local plant species. Factors such as elevation, aspect, slope, rainfall and temperature all affect the plants found in a location. Lake Jocassee provides easy access to many of the plant communities found in the Jocassee Gorges, including some quite unexpected! Join Kay Wade to learn about these communities and explore them from the lake.

Location: Holcombe Room, Devil's Fork State Park, followed by a pontoon boat ride
Please note that the state park charges a $5 entrance fee.
