Fāns Only: Mahjong Social Club and Lai Cha Party are teaming up to bring you a Hong Kong–style afternoon of Mahjong, UNLIMITED lai cha (milk tea & lemon tea), DJs, and prizes.

Whether you’re a seasoned shark chasing tournament wins or a “chicken-hand” player here for the vibes, this is your type of day-party.

🥮 Part of the Worldwide Weekender: Mooncakes & Mahjong — a global celebration where Mahjong social clubs across the world host the biggest joint Mahjong festival during the Mooncake Festival weekend.

🥤 UNLIMITED Hong Kong milk tea & lemon tea included with every ticket. 🍱 Snacks available for purchase after 6pm

🎟 Discounted tickets available for non-mahjong players → includes unlimited lai cha, DJ vibes, and cheering rights. If a mahjong seats open up, you may play at organizer’s discretion (priority goes to mahjong players ticket holders).

We will be playing Hong Kong Style Mahjong.

Rules and Scoring Guides/Cheat Sheets will be emailed to you at least 3 days prior to the event. For now, here's a handy public cheat sheet we use for scoring.

Players choose one of two tiers:

0+ Point Players (“chicken-hand”, gai wu 雞糊)

• Casual players who know the basics but aren’t comfortable counting points yet. Printed cheat sheets provided to help with rules and reading Chinese characters. Tracking winds and points isn’t necessary unless your table prefers.
• Casually play with friends or mingle — we’ll ask players to switch tables every hour.

3+ Point Players (minimum 3-point hands to win)

• Faster-paced players (moves typically within 5–15 seconds) comfortable building hands worth 3 fāns or more. You do not need to know all fān combinations — printed cheat sheets and organizers will help.
• Joining this tier automatically enrolls you in the mini-tournament (details below).

Heads up, absolute beginners — this one might not be your best starting point. But you can still grab a discounted non-player ticket to enjoy the vibes, unlimited lai cha, and even pick up tips by watching others play. Want to learn the game? Join our weekly Fans Only Thursday meet-ups at 8pm, where organizers will teach you how to play from scratch.

• Open Round (4:15–5:15pm): Submit pics of yourself and your winning hands to the organizers. The Top 16 players with the highest-scoring hands (aka biggest Fāns energy) move on to the Semi-Finals.
• Semi-Finals (5:15–6:15pm): 4 tables, players randomly assigned. Each table will tally points (see pg. 2 of the cheat sheet for Fān → point conversion). Organizers are around to help if needed. The highest scorer at each table advances to the Finals.
• Finals (6:15–7:15pm): One table. Four players. By the end, the highest total tallied points is the Tournament Champion.

📌 All disputes on points → organizers has final say.

✨ Not in the tournament running anymore? No worries — keep playing! There are plenty of other prizes to compete for. Play with friends or mix it up — we’ll ask everyone to switch tables every hour if they'd like.
