Lagos Lagoon Climate Response Project – My Artistic JourneyLast month, I applied for the Lagos Lagoon Climate Response Project and was thrilled to be selected! As a performance artist deeply rooted in community art intervention, this project offers a unique opportunity to explore, engage, and create.
On February 17th, the journey officially began as all selected artists met for the first time, ready to embark on this immersive experience together.
Throughout the tour, I’ve been conceptualizing ways to use my body as an object of resistance—exploring, investigating, and questioning.
Community Visits
Day 1: Ejinrin Community
Day 2: Oriba Community
Day 3: Saga Community (all in Epe, Lagos)
One striking challenge in these riverine communities is the water hyacinth invasion. However, what was once a major issue has now become a blessing in disguise, as locals find innovative ways to transform it into a resource.
I look forward to showcasing the outcome of this exploration at the "Lagos Lagoon Chronicles Exhibition" on April 3rd to 13th 2025, at the National Museum, Onikan, Lagos.
