Dorrie Joy is a UK based artist & craftswoman. She teaches ancestral skills & traditional crafts. She has been making drums for 30 years & holding workshops for many of those. She holds ceremonial spaces that centre creativity as an intentional practice of soul mending & belonging. You can find more about her work here: www.dorriejoy.co.uk. Dorrie is so happy to be coming to Norway. We’ll be working with hand prepared Reindeer skins from a traditional family tannery in the north of Norway. We’ll be working on 16” hand steamed ash frames that Dorrie will be bringing from the UK.
From Friday til Sunday we’ll be making medicine bags from soft reindeer leather with a Sami style twisted braid, and native reindeer skin rattles filled with the stones of the lake & the songs of the land & most importantly, birthing deep & gorgeous native reindeer skin shamanic frame drums as unique soul vessels of harmonious wild resonance with a medicine wheel design.

Cost: 5400 NOK

Timing:
Friday 25th: 5pm-9pm
Saturday 26th: 9.30am-9.30pm
Sunday 27th: 10am-4pm
Marit will provide lunch & dinner on Saturday & lunch on Sunday.
We will be working outside for some of the time and be walking together to the trees & water. Wear suitable clothing but dress beautifully if you want to 🌱
We’ll be working on floor level and these crafts require full use of both hands. It is nourishing and rewarding but intensive. Let us know in advance if you have additional accessibility needs or have any other questions 🙏
