Dear Friends,We are pleased to announce the upcoming unveiling of a new Lafayette Trail marker to be installed in Versailles, KY, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2 pm ET.
Join us in Versailles, KY [/vərˈseɪlz/ vər-SAYLZ] as The Lafayette Trail, Inc. commemorates this historic occasion with the Kentucky Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Woodford County, KY, Historical Society, the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, Woodford County representatives, and Versailles officials.
The event will take place at the Woodford County Historical Society (121 Rose Hill Ave, Versailles, KY 40383). The ceremony is expected to last approximately 45 minutes. It will include remarks from all stakeholders involved in the preparation of the monument, the marker unveiling, and photo opportunities.
A lecture stressing the Revolutionary War historical imagery of national unity that Lafayette invoked as a "paragon of liberty" during the tour will follow the marker dedication. Refreshments will be provided inside the historical society building. Attendees are encouraged to park at no charge in the back lot of the historical society or along Rose Hill Avenue.
